My dwarf crayfish claimed one of these tubes within a day and now barely leaves it. The clay material seems genuinely safe, no weird smell or cloudiness in the tank, and the openings are sized well for a full-grown crayfish to back into.
The clay feels dense and smooth, not like the flimsy resin caves I’ve tried before. My dwarf crayfish slipped right in and claimed it as her hideout within an hour, and it sits heavy enough that it won’t tip over.
I was worried the crayfish would ignore it, but within a day my female was already backing into one of the entrances. The clay has a nice matte, earthy look that doesn't stand out like plastic decor does.
