My betta immediately swam into this hideaway and now sleeps in it every night. The clay is non-toxic and has a nice handmade texture, and the smoothed edges mean no risk of tearing his fins.
The clay material feels solid and the edges are sanded smooth, no rough spots my betta could snag a fin on. He naps inside it most of the afternoon now, which he never did with the plastic log I had before.
My betta took to it within a day and now sleeps inside it every night instead of hanging by the filter. I was nervous about the clay at first, but it's the same non-toxic stuff used for teapots, so no leaching worries in my freshwater tank.
