Cypress Cones are a highly functional aquarium botanical valued for their natural antibacterial properties and strong tannin release. Similar in use to Indian almond leaves and cinnamon bark, these cones are widely used in blackwater, shrimp, and biotope aquariums to help maintain healthier conditions for aquatic life.

Their open, textured structure makes them excellent shelters for shrimplets and fish fry, while also encouraging biofilm growth that provides a natural food source for shrimp, plecos, and other bottom dwellers. Cypress cones are also commonly used by shrimp keepers as a natural aid in reducing Planaria, making them a reliable all-round botanical for sensitive aquarium setups.

All Castle Dawn Aquatics botanicals are organically sourced and naturally sun-dried without the use of chemicals or ethanol.

Took about a day for the water to turn that perfect amber tea color, and my shrimp tank looks like a proper blackwater biotope now. Each cone sinks right away and they’re holding up nicely after two weeks without getting mushy. The antibacterial kick is a nice bonus for keeping things stable.

My betta’s been way more active since I tossed a couple of these in—the water took on that nice amber tea tint within a day, and the antibacterial kick gives me peace of mind during molts. Fifty cones is plenty for regular water changes, and they sink fast without any soaking hassle.

Hazel ★★★★★

Tossed two cones into my betta's tank and the water took on that lovely amber tint within hours. They sink fast and hold their shape way longer than the almond leaves I've used before, plus the antibacterial kick gives me peace of mind during water changes.
