At Castle Dawn Aquatics, we love Coconut Fibre Curls – the Swiss Army knife of aquarium botanicals. These versatile, fibrous curls bring both beauty and function to blackwater aquariums, helping recreate the look and ecology of natural tropical waterways.

Their intricate, layered structure provides excellent shelter for shrimp, plecos, and small fish, while also acting as favoured spawning grounds for Dwarf Cichlids and wild Betta species. As they soften and condition in the aquarium, Coconut Fibre Curls release high levels of beneficial tannins and humic substances, creating a rich amber tint and supporting a stable, biologically active ecosystem.

The fibrous surface rapidly becomes colonised by biofilm, fungi, and microfauna, offering a continuous natural food source for shrimp, fry, and bottom-dwelling fish.

Tannins Released: High

All our botanicals are organically sourced, free from harmful pesticides, and naturally sun-dried without the use of chemicals.

George Y. ★★★★★

These curls are surprisingly versatile – I've used them in several tanks for both hiding spots and a natural look. They break down slowly and give the water that lovely amber tint my blackwater setup needed. One pack filled a 20-gallon easily.

Scarlett ★★★★★

The 90g pack goes way further than I expected, and the fibers break down slowly enough that my shrimp have been picking at them for weeks. Tannins tinted the water a nice amber without going too dark, which is exactly what I wanted for the tetras.

Andrew K. ★★★★★

Dropped a few of these curls near my sponge filter and within a day my shrimp were crawling all over them. The fibers hold up way better than the driftwood pieces I tried before, no shedding or mush. A 90g pack goes further than I expected too.
