Category: Aquarium Aquatic Aquascaping Botanicals

Botanicals such as acorn cups provide the perfect finishing touch to a blackwater aquarium aquascape, adding realism, texture, and ecological function. Castle Dawn Aquatics Acorn Cups are rich in tannins and develop dense biofilm, making them highly attractive to Caridina and Neocaridina shrimp, as well as plecos, Ancistrus, and other bottom-dwelling species.

Their compact size makes them excellent micro hideaways for shrimplets and fry, while their textured surfaces encourage grazing and natural foraging behaviour. When scattered throughout leaf litter or mixed with Turkey Oak acorns, they help create a diverse and natural forest-floor appearance within biotope and blackwater aquariums.

All Castle Dawn Aquatics botanicals are organically sourced and naturally sun-dried without the use of chemicals or ethanol.

David ★★★★★

Tossed a handful of these into my shrimp tank and within a week the water had that amber tint I was after. The cups sink fast once soaked and the shrimp love picking at the tannins inside them. 70 pieces goes way further than I expected.

Victoria M. ★★★★★

My betta's tank finally has that natural, riverbed look I was going for—these cups sink right away and scatter nicely under the driftwood. The variety of sizes in the 70-pack means I can place them densely or spread them out, and they've held their shape for weeks without crumbling.

Leo ★★★★★

Dropped these into my blackwater tank and the tannins leached out gradually over the first week, giving the water that perfect amber tint. The cups are sturdy enough that they haven't fallen apart, and my betta keeps hovering around them like they're part of his territory.
